No I only base it on service received. If the service sucks, the tip reflects that. And if its good, the service gets a good tip. It varies with how much they get, it just depends on my mood and the service.

I normally tip at least 15%(even for bad service). More if the service is great. I am a single mother and when I go to restaurants I sometimes don't get good service because they think I don't tip.
well, I was in the restaurant business for 15 years and I do know how to tip. So sometimes when that happens I will give them a very generous tip just to prove them wrong and hopefully make them feel guilty for thinking that of me. I don't know if it works or not, but it makes me feel better.

On the service received. We eat at this one particular place often.
We also get the same waitress often as we go @ the same time
after work. She is an awful waitress until we are about ready to leave then it's honey this & that. We were giving her a good size tip, but I told my fiance, it is wrong that she gets by with doing that. Last week we left what we thought she deserved.

In California where the tax is around 7.25%-7.50%, I generally double that amount to give about a 15% tip; more if service was good. Once, at a restaurant in Knotts Berry Farm, the service was SO bad, I left one cent.

The bare minimum service usually gets 15%. I tip more if the service is great and the prices reasonable.

if I have a negative journey w/ my server, i visit go away 10 p.c. of the bill as a tip. and likely a message for the government. if service is merely ok, 15 p.c.. if service is large... many times round 8 or 10 money. also relies upon on the form of eating position that's.

The tip is supposed to be based on the amount of the bill. 15% of the total bill is the going rate.

But of course it you get lousy service you should scratch the tip. I would.

I base mine on the service that I receive. Why would I give a bad waiter more money than they deserve?

YOUR TIP SHOULD BE BASED ON THE DEGREE OF SERVICE THAT YOU /AND/OR/YOUR PARTY GETS IN TOTAL FROM THE TIME THAT YOU SIT TIL THE TIME THAT YOU AND YOUR PARTY WALK OUT...
THE BASIC ....15%..BASED ON AVERAGE SERVICE
FROM THERE IT IS ALL BASED UPON HOW YOU FEEL WHEN YOU'RE READY TO GO...AFTER 15% OF THE TOTAL
...YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF LEAVING MORE OR LESS....
IF YOU FEEL AS THOUGH AS YOU'D RETURN AND WERE TREATED WELL...AND BETTER THAN YOU EXPECTED...AND WISH TO HAVE THAT SERVER ATTEND TO YOU AGAIN...YOU MAY WANT TOO LEAVE A BIT MORE.....IN THE HOPES OF GETTING A LITTLE MORE FOR ATTENTION YOU MAY WISH TOO LEAVE A BIT MORE FOR A TIP......REMEMBER THAT A "TIP" IS AN "EARNED" GRATUITY.
YOU'RE NOT NECESSARILY OBLIGATED TO LEAVE ONE....
IT'S ALL UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO LEAVE A PARTICULAR "SIZED" TIP......IT'S ALL BASED ON HOW MUCH YOU WERE SATISFIED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR SERVER...AND HOW ATTENTIVE THAT PERSON WAS TO YOU AND YOUR TABLE....GOOD LUCK ON WHAT DECISIONS THAT YOU MAKE REMEMBER YOU MAY WISH TO RETURN TO THAT PLACE AGAIN....
