Tough question since I've lived through most of the songs, but, Stones: Sympathy for the Devil is timeless,

Don McLean: American Pie was good lyrically,

and Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/S1302.htm - he made this song about 10 years before he named the Rolling Stones. Young English artists that appreciated Chicago Blues well before I did. By the way, Chicago's Blues Festival is this weekend. Free.

I think Dusty Springfield sang, Son of a Preacher man. I loved Santana, queen, Jagger, But of course. Freddie mercury is the king for queen whatever you call it.. To Me Freddie Mercury rules the music world. Well he, (MERCURY) is gone now but he ruled.
