If you want to buy a healthy Venus Flytrap that has a good chance of survival, go to http://www.cobraplant.com. They have healthy plants, plus care sheets on their website that will tell you all you need to know about the care of the plant. If that is not enough for you, they happily answer questions from people on their blog site "Ask the Growers". A plant that is purchased from a store such as Home Depot is more than likely a weak plant. To top it off, the growing instructions will be wrong. Plants are sold at these places in domed pots and are not acclimated to their proper growing conditions, resulting in a weakened plant. A venus flytrap should be grown in full sun, outside, with a relative humidity of at least 45%. Once adapted to it's environment, changes up or down won't affect it that much. Happy hunting, and I hope you find what you're looking for. On a side note. There are different "clones" or "mutations" of the plant. My favorite is the Akai Ryu, or as it's more commonly known Red Dragon. With the proper sunlight the whole plant turns a deep maroon or reddish color.
