Well the company (Insurance) deside to work on Holidays and take 1 1/2 day off doing the same week, Now they deside to start working on Saturday every unit have to have employee there for 4 hrs. Now keep in mine the upper manager don't have to come in on these days. Why should the employee have to come in and they don't. Tehy get to spend time with there family and you have to be at work.

Since I don't know where you work - I don't know.
Doesn't sound like any crime.
If for some reason the company can't afford to be paying people extra, or there isn't a need to have people there those hours, sounds reasonable to me.

You're still getting 40 hours worth of pay - right? (or whatever you usually get)
But you didn't have to put in 40 hours AT work?

It's all a wash.

I don't always get to be off on holidays where I work.
Sometimes I work them.
Sometimes I don't.
But either way, I get compensated.

To me, it sounds like you would have rather worked the hours on the holiday and got the extra money. Yeah it sucks - but that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Actually there are some new labor laws that where passed last year that says that they can do that if they choose. Your company has the choice to pay you or give you comp time. As long as you dont work hours that you do not recieve any compensation for the most you can do is inquire with your boss or HR and see what they have to say.

If you really want to puch the issue you can go to your local Texas Workforce Commission and inquire with them.

In the U.S. if you work on a holiday that is a federal holiday meaning it is recognized by the government. then you are to be paid holiday pay plus time and a half if you are a full time employee and just time and a half if you are part time.
