I have 2 bunnies, and they are great. Mine are only 11 weeks old, but they can be trained to use a litter box at around 3-6 months old. One that is very used to people touching them would be best, otherwise they are no fun because you can't cuddle them. You should have a pair or trio of bunnies as opposed to just one because they are social animals. they do take alot of care and should not be contained all day, so need space to exercise and play. Rats are fantastic pets, and are not very messy, a female would be best as males' urine STINKS bad! same goes for most male creatures really! have fun and good luck getting a good pet!

Well, right now I happen to have a rabbit, some ferrets and some rats. If your looking for something clean I would say a rat, some thing to cuddle with a rabbit, or something that is just really funny a ferret. but with all three you need to make sure that you have the time to spend with them or they will all become skittish.

I think Ferrets are cute but, Mother-In-Law used to tell a horrible story about one who bit my husband in the temple, when he was 4y. She all but forbid us from getting one. I wouldn't get one just because I have small children. not because she said no.
I have a bunny, she's a great pet.
But if you want a rodent I highly recommend a guinea pig, they are the best pets in the world, it's true they are skittish at first, but they are trainable to be more confident with their owner. they don't bite, They talk all the time. I only have two right now, but I've had close to 30 in my life time.
Plus they are fine with the bunny, you can allow them in the same cage, my bunny & one piggy.

I have had bunnies ,ferrets , birds ,dogs and cats and I would haft to say I love my ferret Chi Chi more than any other pet I have had.
She has only a small musk smell that my wife says smells like flowers.
She learned to use her litter box faster and better than any cat.
She love to play and is very smart.
She never bites and loves other animals.
She is very clean and keeps us laughing.
She loves to explore and she steals things.
With any kind of animal some are going to be better pets than others.
I have had good cats and bad cats.
You can't judge all cats because of one bad cat or all ferrets on one bad ferret.
I love all of my pets and Chi Chi is the most fun.

Bunnies are really messy and take a lot of work.
Ferrets are ok, but I wouldn't recommend them- they need a lot of attention as well.
Rats can be messy- we had some and my dad loved it, went every where with him- kind of bizarre.
Cats and dogs are the best cuddlers. My rabbit didnt even like to be pet, they get spooked easily. None that you listed are cuddlers.

ferrets smell bad, but are fun and better in pairs. if they get out, though, they cannot survive on their own, so you need to be diligent with your care. bunnies are delicate and need attention. if they stop eating or pooping for even one 24 hour period they will need a special vet to keep them from dying quickly from gut stasis. they can train to be held and mine likes to be petted, but if i stop petting she gets restless. and the poop smells bad too. i would never give a bunny to a child. too much work and too delicate. they get lonely too and need a certain diet: lots of hay and dark greens to prevent diarrhea.
i agree with the guinea pig suggestion. they are easier to keep and good pets. hamsters are loners and don'd cuddle but are funny and cute. sleep all day though and bite unless you train them with food.
for cuddling, honestly, dogs and sometimes cats. you need an animal that can relax and sleep with you to cuddle.. rodents are too active and fidgety.

Neither of them make good pets. Ferrets are mischevious and smell funny, rabbits poop all over and have sharp claws, so you can't cuddle them. Get a kitten.
