How do you burn a movie onto a DVD that's compatible with DVD players?

I have the DVD's, and I was able to burn the movie onto the disk, but it wasn't compatible with my DVD player? Do I need different DVD's?

Depends if you have DVD player that is compatible with DVD+R or -R disks. My DVD player plays + and -. So try burning +R disk first if not, then -R.

EDIT: Wanna save money on burning DVDs? Then buy -RW or +RW so it is a good idea to format again when you made a careless mistake.
