I am trying to answer a question on an application for a grad assistantship and am not sure if I am suppose to indent or not. On many papers I don't remember indenting like in teaching philosophies and in research.

You have a choice of styles: block or indent. Take your pick and stick with it.

No. Normally you would not indent on a research paper. You would indent if you were in high school or writing a short story for an English class.

For grad assistantship you are suppose to do it on the many papers so that you can like teaching philosophies and in research.

Always indent and follow the rules of formal English on anything academic except business school classes.

Often people don't indent these days, but it isn't incorrect if you do. I wouldn't.

What style of formatting are you using? MLA, APA, Chicago, something else?

On essays and paragraphs you do. So, I would say yes.
