The RAM (memory) determins how many applications you can have open at the same time. Or, if you are running an app that uses a lot of RAM, how smoothly the program will run. The hard drive just determines how much information you can actually store. Think of it like this. The computer is a Library. When you walk in and see a librarian, that is the processor. The shelves are the hard drive. And the RAM (memory) is the circulation desk. So processor speed is how fast the librarian can move the books from the shelves to the desk. RAM (memory) is how many books the desk can hold. And hard drive is how many books can be stored in the library. Hope this helps. If you need more info, just let me know. lakeline@dellinc.net

The computer processor is more important. then second is the RAM. the Hard disk is different. the speed of the hard disk is for the spinning and buffer. like for example the hard disk is 7,200rpm and 8mb cache. the spinning of the rpm will helps in accessing data faster when its bigger. the Cache is the more the better. it will not be slow. as for the size of the hard disk you can choose any size you want but when you pick the 300Gb and above best to go for the 16mb cache type.

ram. coz it is the speed of electrons. hard disk is mechanical so much slower.
but speed of computers depends on so many things. even processor speed alone cannot dictate the actual performance of the pc. specialized retailers like alienware optimize the totality of the components to deliver the best performance.

if you are asking which is most imprtant becasue you are looking to buy a laptop, the answer is speed of computer (processor). Because you can easily add RAM or a larger hard drive afterwards. But you can't update the processor speed.

RAM ofcourse. If u dont have high RAM memory such as 500MB or above, ur pc will work slowly. If ur using a notebook, u must have a 500MB RAM with 1.83Ghz or it will definitely affect the speed.
