I ran across a book on transactional analysis & vocational choice about 30 years ago. I'm trying to find a copy. The author's name is Jay Burke. The Title is What am I? Where am I going? and How am I getting there? /
Author(s): Burke, Jay.
Publication: Berkeley, Ca. : Transactional Pubs,
Year: 1974
Anyone have any idea where I could get it?

E-Bay currently has 641 items related to "What Am I?" and a search for "Jay Burke" turned up 0 items. Half.com has many books on "What am I" but none currently are by Jay Burke.

Similarly, a search on Yahoo turned up way too many items on Jay Burke, and a search on the name of the book itself turned up nothing by Jay Burke.

You might try http://www.kerrysbooks.com.au/booklist.asp. This website specializes in books on TA, and she might have an idea where the book can be found. Also, Smallwood Publishing seems to be a source you might try. info@smallwood.co.uk.

Other sources might be psychology departments in large universities, i.e, Harvard, Duke, Yale, Princeton, etc. Also, you might try the American Association of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as other authors of TA books, such as John Bradshaw, who wrote "Homecoming" among others, and Eric Berne, who also has written several books.

Good luck in your search - it appears this book is not only out-of-print but extremely difficult to locate.

If you have really looked everywhere- ebay, amazon, the publisher, the author, used book stores, craigslist, regular bookstore, etc.... then~

Go to your local library.
Ask the librarian to find a copy for you.
It may have to be an interlibrary loan and there may be a fee for it.
Check it out- If there is a copy available for you you can check it out on
your card as long as you don't have any unpaid fees.
ONCE you have had some time to read it Do not "LOSE" it or you will have to pay them for it. If you "lose" it, they will be more than happy to tell you how much it was. Don't get more days of fines than necessary becuase you will already have a book to pay for but, two or three days fine is good enough time to find a book. And if you do find it later sometimes they will be happy to refund you for the book, just save your receipt.

If the book was once in their system ask them to ask the "friends of the library" to see if they have acopy in the back.

It was published in Berkeley Ca, I would check there at any of the old book stores. Check online at Amazon.com, look in ebay under old books. Depending on your state and how far from CA you are, you might be able to look in antique stores. If the publisher is no longer in business you can check with your local university library. If you had the ISBN number you could look it up, see how many were published and which company bought the most of them. (Universities are a good place to start).
Good Luck!
