The coin does not appear to be very old.It has Queen Elizabeth II on the head side, and a beautiful encircled cross on the other.The embelishments are delicate and detailed.

£1 = whatever the current exchange rate is
The Pound coin was introduced in 1983 to replace the £1 note (paper money), and the 1983 ones are still valid coinage.

Judging by your description I'd say it was the 1996 "Northern Ireland Celtic Cross Design" version.

Depends on the current exchange rate and where you get it exchanged (many places charge a fee). I think that $2 aprox. the equivilant to 1 pound.

its probably worth one pound they only came out about 20 years ago try wearing a different pair of glasses you might see better

Have another look under the Queens chin and you will see 2003 or something similar: That, my dear, is the date........ it is worth exactly one pound sterling..............
