I hate that show sooo much. I find that the judges aren't really there to help the contestants. All they want to do is promote them so that they will receive higher TV ratings. But if you do like the show, tell me why you like it or why you dont. And please, dont be sarcastic and dumb. This is just a question to see people's opinions.

I hate the show. It's like a revolving door for singers......before this show, talented people actually had to work to become known....like Paula Abdul herself!!!!! Now, all you have to do is get on this freaking show. I don't like any of the people that have made it due to this show. I don't have any respect for them, they haven't earned it.
& I feel the same way about Top Model.

Being a musician myself I have to say it is good and bad at the same time.
Positives:
Shows people that a lot of people have talent in a lot of areas,
Shows how many untalented people believe they have talent
Shows people that talent without hard work and discipline is useless
Makes people more critical in what they listen to
Helps people gain critical thinking skills
Negatives:
NO GOOD MUSIC ANYWHERE NEAR THIS SHOW
Simply put this show displays performers, not creators of music
Judgement and critique comes from a commercial point of view
Some people might go on who would someday be great artists, though they'll never be taken seriously and never accomplish because they were on the show
No serious musician will take seriously ANYONE on the show (up to this point anyway)

I like the show personally ... I am a self confessed reality show addict . Plus I love music and am involved in a band myself. The other thing about AI is that it affords an opportunity to people to reach for their dreams. That is something that they may not get elsewhere. I do realise however that it is a giant commercial machine that is growing out of control. But in the end I think it has done its job .... to entertain. And help a few reach their life time dreams!

I got into the show when Kelly Clarkson won the first year...it turned her life around and she is now very successful, and this is thanks to the show...I think the judges can be harsh, and I tend to disagree with them alot of the times, but they do know talent when they see it, they should just be a bit kinder when giving out their opinions....for those who do not like the show, turn the channel, that's the beauty of having such a wide variety of programs on the air.....

I"m sure the people that were unknowns..that are now living the dream..don't see it as pointless ... At all....
If it wasn't for AI.. I guarantee.. we would have never heard the names... Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson.. Carrie Underwood..Bo bice.. Constantine Maroulis..and so on and so on..
Lucky for them..they found merit to the show.

I don't go out of my way to watch it, but I guess it's kind of a cool way to discover raw talent. I have watched it before it though and I love Simon Cowell. He's brutally honest, which takes alot of balls to be that cocky. To know you're going to piss people off and not care, it's nice he doesn't put on a show. Paula Abdul is such a desperate loser, she loves everybody!

i think it is dumb because first of all they are Americans and American people are rude while British people like my family always have a point when doing some thing anyway and also it does not have a point!

I concur[agree]the only part I watch is a bit of the opening show when they show the ones who suck out loud!After a few minutes I`m content with "Law N Order"and "CSI"reruns.

Maybe alot of people, Even me, I hate the judge sooooo much like I would strangle them, but that is just in my mind, The judges are mean, bossy and mean.
I mean, they are double mean!

I don't like it. Its all a comercialized bunch of fluff taking up air time that could be put to better use (like women's golf) lol.
