"Talk about" is different from yelling and hollering; convincing with compelling rhetoric is different from sharing and exploring together with others. Debate and argument are different from discussion and discourse.

NB: specifics count, right? Q: "Where can I get one of these little batteries for my camera?" A: "At the camera-battery store." Yaa right folkz! So ... examples? Site names? URLs?

My point is: discuss is /not/ debate; just as "talk about" is different from yelling and hollering; convincing with compelling rhetoric is different from sharing and exploring together with others. Debate and argument are different from discussion and discourse.

Where do folk go to uhhhhhhhh do a reality check?

BTW http://bentrem.sycks.net/gnodal/ is where I stashed my theortical stuff on "computer-mediated communications" (CMC, doncha know).

A good place would be to look into communities rather than discussion forms.

You can discuss here. But most people don't agree with others opinions so it's taken as arguing and debate. It's just answers and opinions here.

Or try going to some type of forum to discuss things. There's a forum somewhere on this site and many other websites.

Try a good message board site like Myway.com or Excite.com if you just want to talk and discuss in general.
