It depends on the person, and how well I know them. I met a lady from Mississippi. We talked for months until we got to know each other well, then we met. She was everything she said she was, and did not mis-represent herself once. She was a real joy to have in my life. I trusted her, so yes you can trust SOME online friends.

Some you can, some you can't It depends on the person. Most people that aren't to be trusted though will make up lies about certain things. Sometimes they'll even change the story. However there are a select few that are telling the complete truth.

No, not always.

Because, the person on the other side has hardly any knowledge about you.

What ever he knows about you, is through chatting only.

You may not know his body language.

The other person may not be always be honest.

He may be talking to hundreds of persons like you.

He has no moral liability to express the truth.

It may be that the other person has too much of time to waste on the net.

You may not know his family and educational background truly.

Moreover he is not bound by any clauses of telling the truth.

Investgating agencies feel that quite often, criminals have robbed the other person, by faking lottery win, treasure find, wealthy will of a dead person, narcotic dealer and many more.

some people are still honest in this world we live, but the bad apples have ruined it for the whole, so just beware the jekyls and hydes on the net, never give your real address or phone until you are proof positive they are for real and on the up and up!
