I have never played Suikoden but I have played Legend of Legaia and it is a really good rpg. It also depends on what your looking for . Suikoden is final fantasy like and Legend of Legaia breaks off into more Legend of Gaia like.

suikoden 5 is my favorite the only problem is the riciculously long load times coming from the battle initiation seuqence.
