I am 28 years old and I have always had problems with my periods. I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. Since then, I have had about 4 periods in the past few years. Well, about two weeks ago my period started and was only heavy for half a day. Then I spotted all week but not enough to reach my underwear. Now, today I got a stomach cramp and noticed more bright red blood when I went to the bathroom. I was just wondering why it is lasting so long and is it ok? The stomach cramps have not been very bad. Also, I have a few clots coming out.

PCOS is a tricky condition to treat. You really need to be under the care of a physician that understands how to treat this disorder. Often hormonal therapy can ease the symptoms and regulate your cycle. My daughter has been under treatment for this condition for almost a decade and she has good luck with the oral antidiabetic drug to control the hypoglycemia and it also keeps her cycle regular. The MOST important thing is to get proper treatment and preserve your opportunity to have children later. Good Luck

I work in a OB/GYN department..I have cared for gals with PCOS...I would recommend that you see a reputable doctor to look into this and treat you appropriately...there are so many medications and treatment for your disease and should not have to suffer with irregular menses and cramps...
