Alright, we all know that English has been the global language of the 20th century, and a lot of Chinese-haters out there are fearing that the Chinese people are (whether they're from China or not) buying and running too many businesses nowadays that soon, Chinese will be the International language and English will slip to #2. Already, Chinese is fast-becoming the new language of the world wide web. So, my question to you is (whether you're a hater or not): Do you think Chinese will be the new language of the 21st century, and if so, can you stand it ? Or will you be too proud to accept this fact when it does happen ?

Please answer seriously, and don't start any smart-a.s.s. comments with me, coz i'm warning you: you don't wanna see the things that i can write back to you, OR i'll just report you.

Thank you.

Yo Panacea: Ask yourself this question: Are the Chinese really absorbing the American culture and way of life, or are Americans absorbing the Chinese way of life, or both?....ahhh!??!

There is no language on Earth that can surpass English for the wide variety and shades of meanings with which it is imbued. However, if the Chinese continue to expand their country's infra-structure, continue to vigorously compete in world markets and for world resources, develop strategies to export not only their products but also their culture abroad to other countries, the day may well come when Mandarin(?) chinese becomes more common in commercial areas. English will continue, however, to be the common language for most world commerce. Just my opinion. UC Steve

The reason English is the predominant language is because at one point in history, Great Britain owned most of the world.(called the Great British Empire) If Chinese were to become the predominant language, China would have to enslave the rest of the world and force us to speak Chinese, like us Brits did with English.(that's not a proud statement, btw)

Nah....for the same reasons russian isn't the global language. These people have too many behaviors and beliefs that are evil. Evil is destructive to others but not nearly as destructive as it is to themselves. The chinese will destroy themselves long before they pose a serious threat to the dominance of european (now american) thought and culture. That's how we rose to dominance in the first place.

However, there is one caveat. There is some evidence to suggest that the chinese are throwing off the chains of this pathology and are actually absorbing our way of doing things. If that happens, they will join us in the western world, similar to the way Japan has joined us...adding the uniqueness and strengths of their culture to our own. Resistance is futile.

i really don't chive a git...lol
i speak english, and so does all of my family. and i wont change it for anyone.
so, i guess i'll be one of those people who are too stubborn or too ignorant to accept any change.
and by the way, i think that in america, spanish will be the new first language...but that's another subject...
