Giuliani did wonders as mayor of NYC. He cleared out the mob before becoming mayor (he did so by conceiving RICO laws)--and reduced the crime rate in NYC significantly. NYC was once a very dangerous & dirty city--and now it is remarkably clean and one of the safest cities in the nation. Prior to Guiliani, NYC was depopulating. . .it now has more that 8.2 million people--(people who really love living there). I can never forget his excellent leadership on 9/11. I certainly felt more safe with him then from the anemic & disorganized federal response. For those who comment that Giuliani would upset the conservative base of the Republican party. . .that's not such a bad idea. The party is much bigger than it's vocal far right--and I'm confident that it is rather sick of being hijacked to the extreme. Giuliani would be effective in doing great things for the country--and in bring the party back from the extreme edge.

I 100% love the idea of Rudi a moderate to counter the far left Hillary in NY for President. He should also recruit Condi Rice to be his VP. Think it through:
1) Rudi puts NY a Democratic safe haven into play and forces the Democrats to waste massive resources there;
2) Condi is from California putting it into question as well - another Democratic safe haven that has to be contested by the Democrats to keep.
3) Condi challenges the women and black vote which are both strongly Democrat.
4) You can't paint Rudi as a hard line conservative like they have GW; if anything the Republicans will have a hard time stomaching another moderate. But he could get their support with close the border kind of issues.

While a lot of Republicans think Rudy Giuliana is personally a great guy, he is a shaky choice for several reason - most of them having to do with liberal positions he holds that conflict with the Republican platform. His nomination would alienate the conservative base in the Republican party and so Republicans might not get the votes they need within their own ranks.

I doubt he would win the primaries... I think if I remember correctly he supports gay marriage and abortion... those are killers in Republican strongholds like the south...
He would probably be my preference out of all the Republicans, but I'm not a Republican... so there you go... that reason alone is enough for many
netjr: that's all well and good, what you've laid out there, but if the dems go with Edwards and you go with condi and giuliani... you just lost the entire south... or at least the majority of it... a black woman and a man that supports gay marriage and abortion... WOW!... and I don't think Condi's California roots are good for anything politically... I could be wrong?

I think it's a great idea. I've seen the difference he made in New York city. It's so much cleaner than before he came along, even the people seem nicer. If he can do that, imagine what he could do for an intire country.

No... He's not a true Conservative and I disagree on at least 2 major deciding issues in my book.... I do like him, but...
I would never support him because he is ANTI-Second Amendment. Taking into account his non-sensical, un-Consititutional, and just plain "liberal" anti-gun views, I would not vote for him.
I also don't care for him because he is pro-abortion.
THEN AGAIN, if it was Rudy or Hillary -- I'd vote for RUDY!!!!!!!!

HELL YEAH!! I would vote for him..I just wish we could get someone honest and not because they are Dem. or Rep. I wish we could get someone who does not need to "read" what he means. I still can't understand how Clinton was impeached and Bush is still in office.
GO RUDY!!
