If you play it safe it is. I've heard of people being really stupid on it though.

I just heard about a girl that was going to go to the middle east to meet someone from myspace. Myspace is safe. It just isn't safe for people with no common sense.

I'm sorry but I don't believe all this crap you hear about such things. The bottom line with myspace or chatrooms or ims is that... it takes two people. just like when young girls go to parties, get drunk, and are raped. why would someone put themselves into a situation where they were not safe? same with the little boys or girls who carry on conversations with sexual pretetors. yes, the sexual pret. is wrong... but so is the person they're talking to. for the most part... you as a person should know what is safe and what isn't, if you can't figure that out... your obviously aren't old enough to be doing such things. and if your not old enough your parents should be watching you.

Myspace is totally safe, just make sure you don't give out where you live, or your phone number or anything, then it could be dangerous, but you should do that with every website you have an account on, its just the smart thing to do.

It is as safe or unsafe as you make it. I would do a yahoo/google search on the subject. Use a phrase like "safety guidelines for myspace" or something along that lines. There have been enough articles recently to give you direction on how to use it safely.

MySpace, like most things on the internet are safe. Just dont give out information like you phone number, address, full name, or anything like that. Think Smart. It only takes a few irresponible people to cause trouble or talk.

Myspace is not as evil as most media outlets portray it to be. I am 24 years old and I am on myspace. I have found my past and it was very entertaining! I found people that I have not seen/talked to in years and now I am in constant contact with the people of my past.
As for kids who are using myspace, like my neices who are of middle school and high school age, they use it to make light on their personalities and a place to say a few words to their friends. To me, myspace is extroverted version of instant messaging. Traditional instant messaging, you messaged people one on one and your friends were kept to yourself. With myspace, it is all out on the open. Everyone can see the pictures, blogs, and messages to other people. My neices protect themselves by approving their friends. That deters the pervs and you are in control of your friends.
Don't believe everything the media states about Myspace. It is good fun and a blast from the past in my instance.

There was something in the press about a 16 year old being talked into flying to Jordan without her parents' knowledge to meet someone she met on MySpace.
You might ask her parents.

It's just as safe as any other chatroom! If your a dipshit who gives out personal info and sets up meetings to "see" other people you find on myspace, you deserve what's coming to you. Nobody is that stupid that they don't know what's going to happen!

It is as safe as the local mall, hamburger joint......just be careful with who you strike up a conversation with. I know of many bands, filmmakers, artists who use MySpace to communicate with fans.

Depends on how responsible you are with it. I mean some people are idiots and post their whole life on it, locations , telephone numbers etc. If you just make yourself annyomous to a point and not reveal to much inforamtion you will be just fine. That and you also have the option of setting your profile as private and only friends that you have listed would be able to read anything on your page. To enable that though you would have to list your age as under 17, to make the profile private that is.
Hope that helps.
