Since we don't know they types of train movies your young man with Down's syndrome prefers, I can only add to the list you've been given and it'll be up to you to sort it out:
Strangers on a Train (the Hitchcock movie) coupled with Throw Momma From the Train would be a good pairing, as the latter references the former.
I would add
Silver Streak (Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor)
Murder on the Orient Express
The Great Train Robbery
Narrow Margin (Gene Hackman and Anne Archer)
Hope this helps.

The first link is for my favourite train movie...The General by Buster Keaton...gentle humour...slapstick and a story to boot.
The other train movie links are simply of locomotives in action...and not Hollywood movies.
With the last link of movies made with trains for your selection.
Hope this helps somewhat.
The General can be found at Blockbuster and Netflix or through your local library.
