Are you looking for dining ideas, or just activities in general?
Dining ideas:
Picnic in the park, back yard, or host a progressive dinner (where you start at your house and go from house to house, eating one course at each house, ending with dessert).
General activities:
Bowling, swimming, biking, rollerblading, basketball, walks in the park, board games, crafting or learning a new craft, traveling to a place you haven't explored in your own area, have everyone dress up as something and take pictures of everyone...sort of like Halloween without the candy.
Many families think they have to go to a theme park, zoo or circus in order to give their family a good time. Not so. Be creative, right in your own home. Have a special game night, with all their favorite foods. Or a video night. Or a sleep-over party. Or a small building project, like a playhouse for the kids, made from scrap wood and allowing them to paint it with left-over paint from the neighbors & friends. We never had a lot of money, so we had to come up with alternatives to spending lots of money so that the kids would have a good time. I would also check with some of the local theme parks. They might have a special deal on an off-season pass. We live near Wisconsin Dells, and a few of the attractions offer a residents rate or an A report card rate where you can get in for just a couple of dollars and have a great time. WIth the internet, you can easily check on these kinds of things. Or call your local chamber of commerce for suggestions of activities & dates. Have a great summer! <*)))><
