who thinks that high flow air filters or dual exhaust on a pickup truck improve or lower gas mileage?

they do. the more oxygen is allowed to get into the engine, the more energy will be produced when the injected fuel ignites. your car will inject fuel at a constant rate regardless of how much oxygen the engine gets. if your car isn't getting any oxygen at all, the fuel would never ignite and your car wouldn't go anywhere.

as for exhaust, your car has to expend energy to push air through a tube. the more tubes there are to push air through, the less force your car has to put behind that air with each stroke. if your car isn't using energy to get rid of dirty air, it can use that energy at the flywheel and give you more horsepower. and of course, if you got more power, the car will go farther on the same amount of gas.

Haha i be responsive to it is not lots, yet as quickly as I have been given a ok&N clear out for my '89 Suburban (with a 454) I went from approximately 9-10 to 11 many times. There particularly isn't a great thank you to strengthen gasoline mileage different than using conduct or widespread load on the automobile.

It will improve mileage, although because it sounds and performs better also, many people are tempted to drive harder which results in lower fuel economy.
