They have a few prescription medications out there that helps cure nail fungus. These attack the fungus internally, so they are really the only thing that will cure nail fungus. Unless it's a major problem, I wouldn't go that route as these meds can be hard on your liver and they take several months to see results. Most insurance plans won't cover them as they are for a 'cosmetic problem' and not necessary for your health.
There are some over the counter things you can buy that may help-- they paint on like nail polish over the nail. They don't get at the nail bed, so you need to continue to use them forever. Some people also swear by tea tree oil that can be painted or sprayed on the nails. Same problem about it not really getting at the root of the problem.
If it just bothers you cosmetically-- use nail polish and cover them. It's not really a health concern, just kind of bothersome from a visual perspective.

Unfortunately curing nail fungus is very difficult and prescription medications are very expensive. If you have insurance you should see your doctor for the best treatment. Even lamisil isn't good for nails, it is for fungal infections of the skin.

Go to your doctor and get the proper medication. Most over the counter stuff doesn't work properly. Also, make sure you inform those close to you, e.g. people at work/schoo. Nail fungus is highly contagious.
