This is an honest question for everyone that must learn this to stop the sin.

I do know we can pray about it but that alone will not stop it.

Incest and molestation has been around since the beginning of time, but way back when, it wasn't against the law so no one had anyone to go to about it. It wasn't talked about, it wasn't reported, nothing was done about it. It just wasn't seen as a problem. It has only been in the past 20-30 years or so that it has been coming out and 'becoming a problem.' IF someone reports it, then someone can look into it. If it isn't reported, then no one will know it's even going on so that child will not get the help they need and the person(s) doing this horrible act won't have to pay for it. A bad thing about it, besides the act itself, is the fact that the abuser 'grooms' the abused so they believe that what is being done to them is done in every family, that it's their fault, told that if they tell anyone then they would be taken away and never see their parents/siblings again, etc.

What it will take to get rid of this horrible act is for more people to be aware of the signs and symptoms of the abuse and to report it when they suspect it. Steps are being taken to do this, but it takes time, and lots of it, and lots of work from everyone. The authorities have come a long ways since they first started reporting the abuse, but they still have a long ways to go.

I know how frustrating it is. I was sexually, verbally, emotionally, mentally, and physically abused as a child (for about 14 or 15 years). If I had known then that I could have reported it to someone and the person(s) would have had to pay, I probably would have done something. But, that was in the 1960s and 1970s. It was rarely heard of to have someone molested, let alone have anything done about it.

Rind's analysis in 1998 suggested that if you include "wider family" then about 26% of people had had an incestuous relationship. That might mean intercourse, but it might mean something short of intercourse. If you looked at "close relatives," Rind said, then it was about 11%. So it looks as though this is a widespread phenomenon. Read the reference for more information: there is too much to quote.

In Japan, I am told, mother/son incest is very common indeed (80%) but I have only seen that written down in one place and I can't find it.

I think it's pretty silly to have a law against a consensual, harmless, common practice which many people obviously enjoy, just because it doesn't appeal to you. I hate poetry but I don't try to make it illegal.

Just because it is a common practice, doesn't make it right. Its an unstoppable disease. Nothing you can do to stop it. In some countries, states, its a common practice. One that I certainly do not support. It is out of our hands. The only way to slow it down is if a law is passed that states it is prohibited. But the key word is "slow", will never stop.

incest destroys lives. Also the parent or family member doing this should be put in jail.
Every kid who is molested by a relitive needs to tell someone. If they don't believe them, then tell someone else until you get help. Don't put up with it a moment more.
It is an evil deed. Put a stop to it

The fact that it's a question that has to be asked shows how bad it is. I think the only way to get a handle on it is, to teach children at an early age that they have a voice and should be heard.

Incest is pretty common around the world, hon. If you think prayer can't stop it, guess what? You can't. Only thing you CAN do, is not create an incestuous relationship with anyone in your family. How 'bout dem apples?

Since it's been around since the begining, I don't see what you can do to fix it now. I don't think it's as bad as it was in Old England
