It seems to happen when I have multiple windows open. Maybe using to much RAM? I have 512 RAM & usually multi-task with 4 to 8 windows opened at a time. Could this be my problem. I run spyware, ad-aware & vrus scan routinely w/regular updates along w/microsoft updates as well. Am I missing anything? Thanks

First off, what 4-8 programs are you using? If you are using 4-8 notepad programs, nothing should be causing your pc to freeze. Though say if you are throwing in 4 high gaming programs, no wonder your PC freezes. Though if it isnt the viruses fault, you might want to
1. Increase virtual memory (Control Panel-->System)
2. Run less stealth programs (Run --> type "msconfig" and go to last tab called startup, uncheck all programs that come with a program you installed, except for antivirus and firewall)
3. Perhaps just run a bit less programs. Your CPU might not be up to the challenge.

if you have a spyware problem, then you definetely need some professional help, fortunately companies like microsoft and symantec are aiding for free all computer users, since this spyware problem is actually doing so much harm to their business that most large companies like ibm and microsoft are teaming up to try to eradicate this problem.

I suggest you find a complete resource against spyware with free distributable programs, one such resource could be found here:

Yes, you could be overtaxing your computer. It still is possible that you may have spyware or adware on your computer even if you do run regular scans. Some programs will miss spy/adware, when other will pick it up. It's always best to have two spyware/adware programs.

you may just be doing too many things at once. running something like Photoshop CS2 takes tons of ram , depending on your computer that alone could slow it.

However, the real problem may be that Windows is your operating system.
