Why would you expect anyone to take seriously a question about employment, a profession, school, college, or an area requiring excellence in performance if the first impression they give in their posts are of a 6th-grade level English, grammar, spelling, and sentence construction? If you are offended by those of us who correct your spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, please, continue to be offended to the point of improvement!

Yaaaay! Another member of the Army for Better Communication (the ABC). I cringe when I see the spelling, grammar, etc., on this site -- by people who profess to be adults and college graduates. But the kids are the worst! I think they're in for a big shock when they enter the work force, where the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly is a major factor in success.

Hi Hun
I have a real Masters in Science, Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign/ Urbana
And more recently obtained my Masters in Theology after attending the Uof I, The U of Utah as well as BYU and I have also attended a well known university over sea 's
As you can tell I don't care much what my grammar looks , sounds or appears like....For those that question me I let my. transcripts do the talking. If the world was full of perfect idiots then it would be a perfect world of idiots wouldn't it?
But then again i didn't focus on English, Spelling or Punctuation.
Plus I have fat fingers and the Keyboard isn't friendly. I get along but by the time it takes me to type twenty words most people have completed their day and are in bed asleep..So alot of times I just let it go and hope that people understand what i have said....or what I meant.....

I do find the spelling and grammar on the internet appalling, but, by the same token, language and spelling is ever evolving. Unfortunately, "your" will probably just replace "you're" before long! Many people don't even know the difference! How about "could of" for "could've". Don't get me started. But that's the problem with a language based on phonetics. People just write what it sounds like and as long as they communicate their ideas I suppose that's the main point. I'm all for proper grammar, but I think we're swimming against the tide.

Exactly! Thank you! I understand that there are typographical errors; I type so fast now that sometimes my fingers get ahead of themselves. What really annoys me is when someone presents him/herself as a person who knows what it's all about, and proceeds to spell several words wrong or use incorrect grammar in his/her diatribe against whatever he/she thinks is stupid..... and there's even a spell checker up on the right above this window.. which I just used.. and found at least three mistakes.. lol

I agree with you. There is no excuse for horrible grammar other than laziness. It makes the user look unintelligent and ignorant. Especially when there's a spell check at the top of the box you write in!

Yes, I have done so too. If a child is not taught properly your words are falling on deaf ears. Kids today just don't find it important. Their prospective employers may, it is then that they will get a wake up call.

When I was in about the 6th grade, me and my girlfriends liked to dot our i's with big hearts or fat zeros, we thought it made us unique. I am thinking most of the people who purposely ( I hope) misspell words are still in 6th grade, at least mentally. They think it is cute.
