YES!!!! I wish this question would finally be put to an end! I could say many many things about just how hard and rigerous it is. Or how cheerleading takes even more of a team effort than even football, but when comes down to it, it's in the facts. I live in Colorado and under CHSAA (Colorado High School Activites Association) it is listed as a sport. There is even a picture of cheerleaders on the homepage. We get the same State winning trophy as the football players!

Yes! The competitive kind. We have to be extremely fit to be able to do what we do. It has blood sweat and tears just like any other sport.

However, the kind of cheerleading where all the team does is stand on the sidelines at football games and cheer on the boys is not a sport at all!!

These two types of cheerleading should not be confused. It's insulting for a competitive cheerleader to be mistaken for a sideline style cheerleader.

Hope this answers your question..

Absolutely not. Cheerleading is simply a bunch of girls dancing, screaming, and throwing each other in the air - not a sport.

No it is not. However, without the cheerleaders most sports would suck.Cheerleaders are athletic and some may even be athletes, but cheerleading itself is not a sport.

No, I don't think so. I am pretty certain that in Indiana, the Indiana High School Athletics Association (IHSAA) does not sanction it. It is okay to practice Cheerleading on Sunday's, but athletics are not allowed to practice on Sunday.

the cheer leading were they toss each other 120 feet in the air and catch them. Would be considered a sport.
