If you're talking about accessing your own personal mail from someone else's computer, I'm guessing you're referring to email service provided by your own internet service provider. Generally these ISPs have a "web mail" or "net mail" service where you can access your mail via a browser (not an email client). For instance, Verizon's web service is at netmail.verizon.net, and RCN's is at webmail.rcn.com. You have to set this up with your ISP before it will work.
