Bittorrent is a protocol for downloading large files quickly and easily. The official Bittorrent client lacks adware and spyware, but some clients like Bitlord and eDonkey have adware/spyware.
Some good spyware free Bittorrent Programs:
-Azereus
-Utorrent
Be aware that what you download in Bittorrent may have spyware/adware; it never hurts to scan these files before running them. And the legality of what you download may be affected by local, state, national and other applicable laws.
Hope this helps!

Not necessarily. BiTorrents work on a leech-Seed type download and upload. If anyone has a file, or segment of file, and is on the seed side; then they could "inject" malicious software.
Remember that you are not getting a complete file from one source (In most cases) you are getting bits and pieces. The Program is reassembled and checked by a cheksum file. This process is being targeted for destruction due to piracy and software theft. It has a legitimate place in the web world, but just like shopping at multiple stores around the country...sooner or later you will buy a flat Coke.
