You will have a long wait my friend. Laissez faire is the order of the day within the black community. Why do you think the black community is so poor and I don't just mean financially. It's everybody else fault but our own. Sometimes you wonder whether our survival as a race is a neccesity.

I hope you get a lot of good responses to this question because I'd like to understand it from the inside looking out rather than my viewpoint on the outside looking in.
I was in LA during the Rodney King riot wondering why community leaders said it was good for the community to burn down all their local businesses and destroy their infrastructure.
I hear people defending affirmative action when it does nothing but take away the self esteem of those it was created to help.
I see the Japanese Americans who lost everything in WWII educating their children with doctorate degrees and owning businesses while a lot of the black community hasn't overcome things that happened over 200 years ago.
I see low rent apartment buildings full of expensive, tricked out cars with multiple amplifiers for the stereos, driven by people who could have used that money to purchase a house for their family to live in.
I see a community that tries to pull down any successful member and label them a traitor when they should be recognized and celebrated.

Being in Vancouver Canada, there aren't alot of black people, but we have a huge Chinese population and Indo-Canadian also. There are gangs and troublemakers from these that are probably equivalent to your mostly black gangs in the U.S. I think every country has a problem with different groups/gangs which are not giving the community a positive outlook on these cultures unfortunately.

2 weeks and no answers. Now that's a shame. It's a very important conversation to be had and I would've liked to see something here. Had I seen it when it was first asked I would've put in the coversation-starter: >Perhaps some of it can be attributed to the fact that nearly 70% of black children are born to single mothers.
