People don't take marriage seriously anymore. To them, it's no big deal, if it doesn't work out they can just get a divorce. People also marry for the wrong reason and a lot of people are too selfish when they get marry. They aren't ready to put their spouse first. It's a very sad but marriage is becoming less and less important to the majority everyday. I hope something happens to somehow change that fact.

It seems nobody has enough strength work things out, or they get married for the wrong reasons and don't realize it until it catches up with them and they end up getting divorced.

because western societies are consumeristic and think that if something doesn't work perfectly, you should just replace it. Western societies are also typically more selfish and people are concerned moreover with their own happiness rather than the happiness of the community or the family.
