Cats! They require much less attention and care than dogs. And they don't smell as badly either.

Cats rule. Dogs drool. Am I right? I like that I don't have to walk my cat, that they DO NOT drool all over me, and mostly, because they live quite a long life. I have an 18, 16 and 2 year old. It's not uncommon for a cat to live into its 20s. Dogs are good for 7-8 years in general.

When i first got out on my "own", and i moved into my first real apartment, I decided i wanted a pet. I was only allowed to have a cat. So, i looked in the paper, found someone who was giving away free kittens and got a cat. His name was Samson. I loved this cat like you wouldnt believe! and truly thought I was a "cat person" over the next 9 years, i had 4 more (not all at the same time and most of them were siamese.)
Then i met my "life partner" and we moved to Boston.. I had to leave my much loved lilac point siamese with my daughter because my LP had cat allergy issues.
a couple of years later, my LP presented me with a cute little black and white english springer spaniel for christmas. it was love at first sight (on both mine and Bentley's (his name) parts) and he spent the next 13 years sleeping every nite wrapped around my head on my pillow. and i realised that while i loved my cats when i had them i was first and formost a "dog person" from then on. Bentley is gone now and i still miss him. I have 2 new dogs now and if i'm still around after they have gone, i will get another 2.

I love them both the same even though I did start out loving dogs the best, but, cats are still loving animals too.

I like birds the best!!! I have 4 parrots. But I also like cats and dogs. If I had to choose, I'd say cat because I don't like dogs drooling all over me. Cat's don't drool. They just hack up furballs.
