you can not get on your computer for a whole week

either you cannot coonect to the internet..or your computer is not working

By day one I would be huddled in a corner gripping my knees, staring into space and repeating silently, "INTERNET! INTERNET!" By day two, I would have died from a massive heart attack.
Just kidding! I can live without a computer for a week, but two weeks...that's a whole different story!

I would hate it. I would hate it a great deal. I should know, my (then) only computer ended up in the shop for more than two months back in late 2004/early 2005. This was not a happy experience.
(I also went without internet access for more than 9 months in 2004/2005.....and that was also an unhappy experience.)

At the start of the year I spent 3 months in hospital without being able to go on my computer, The time went so slow. I just had to do other things like listen to music or catch up with my sleep.

If it's just a connectivity issue, I'd do the standard song and dance with cable modem/dsl gear, reseating or replacing the ethernet card, testing the machine on some other network, etc.
If it's a real hardware problem, at about day two, I'd strip it down, rebuild and test incrementally until I could find out what the problem was.
