the heart beat has nothing to do with gender of the baby. the heart beat can be fast at times when the baby is awake and active, and low when they are resting. there's no way of determining that. if you believe in old wives tales, the best one i could tell you to use is take a needle, thread it, and stick it into the eraser at the end of a pencil, hold it over your belly...if it does lines, you're SUPPOSED to have a girl, and if it goes in circles, you're SUPPOSED to have a boy. i have 1 child, and expecting another...it worked for my first...we'll see for the second

Your babies heart rate should be double yours. This is definitely an old wives tale. My son's heart rate prenatal was around 160, my daughter 143.

It is just an old wives tale. I'm having twin boy/girl. And it ended up being that my son has the higher heart rate then then my daughter. I think now they are alot closer, but his is still higher.
