Hello! I have a new product and I am making a website to show it off. I would like to make a scrollable picture in Flash MX so that the user can hold the left mouse button and scroll to see my product at all angles (kind of like on the Sprint PCS or Toyota websites to view their products). I understand that I should take pictures of it about every 10 to 20 degrees, but I have no clue how to import them into Flash, string them together, assign a user control to them, and then make it so that the pictures automatically change depending on the movement of the scrolling mechanism (in this case, the mouse). Can anyone please help me with this? I have very limited experience with Flash so a step-by-step tutorial would be ideal. Does anyone know of any step-by-step tutorials out there on the Internet or can anyone show me the basic steps? Thanks for your time and I look forward to any and all helpful replies!

Hey,
I've been working with Flash for years. There's a lot of different ways to do everything. I wanted to show you a very simple way to do what you're trying to do. The more experience you get with flash, the more you can embelish it and make it look great.

I made an example file for you and posted it to my website. It should get you started.

First, you need to import your pictures into the file. Go to File -> Import to Library. Now where did they go? Hit F11 to view the Library. I like to dock my library on the right side of the screen.

Check out the file I made for you. Look at the timeline. There are 3 layers and 8 frames. The frames with big black dots on them are Keyframes. If a frame doesn't have a big black dot, it's exactly like the frame before it. The frame with the 'a' on it means there's actionscript attached to that frame. To view the actionscript, click on the frame with the 'a' and then click on the actionscript window. The only script here is 'stop();'. When someone watches the movie, it will stop at frame one.

There are two objects in the scene that also have scripting. Click on one of the arrows. You'll see that there is more scripting. The scripting attached to those objects with the arrows, simply tells flash to go forward (or backward) one frame if the mouse moves over it, or if it's clicked on.

To run a test of your flash file, hit CTL + ENTER.

Simply replace the numbers with your own pictures, and change the scripting a little to match your amount of pictures!

Any questions? Let me know.

Good luck!

Hello firstly this will be a lot easier (but not neccasery) if you know how to make scrollable text with a up scroll bar as the easiest way to do this is to use a similar methord. First conver the image to a movie, when creating the movie clip make sure you check Export For ActionScript, and define the Identifier as a different name to the name of the moive clip. then, open the components menu, (windows --> components). add a "ScrollPane" from this menu to the workspace and the in the properties of the scroll pane make ScrollContent the name of the movieclip or identifer not quite sure but it is one of them. This has worked for me and is use on http://www.algarvianvillas.com/ look in the holiday rentals page for an example
