I think if your dad is into any sport at all, maybe a hat with the team name, if he's unlike mine who has a gazillion hats already, or mabye still a gift card to a sporting good's store...
Or if he's realy into something else, by him something related or gift card to store that sells stuff he likes.

me and my kids made my husband a tshirt that said "Best Dad Hands Down 2006" They put their hands in paint and put imprints of their hands on it. We put iron on pictures of them underneath their handprint and put their name under their picture.
