Water does help you to loose weight for a couple of reasons. Most of the time when people snack it is not because they are truly hungry, but because they are dehydrated. Your body works more effectively in all its activities when it is properly hydrated.

I have heard that if you drink cold water you loose more weight because the body has to warm it up. I don't know if that is true or not.

There is all different amounts for how much water you should drink. I am not for sure which one is correct, but if sipping on water all day helps you cut out calories from pop or mindless snacking, then you will loose weight in the long run.

If you mean does drinking cold water somehow burn calories or raise your metabolism to help you lose weight -- no. But, if your really serious about loosing weight it is important to drink lots of water (8 glasses per day). It helps you flush out the toxins in your body, and keeps you hydrated. It also helps to drink a glass of water when you get that "I've got to have something to eat" feeling and it's not time for your next meal - it can make you feel full enough to get you through that feeling. By the way -- if you get a craving for something sweet -- eat a dill pickle. Honest, it takes the "sweet" craving away.

Hot or warm water stimulates your colon and eliminate waste, making you go to the bathroom (#2)...So if you drink a class of warm water in the morning on an empty stomach it will get your system off to a good start and you may loose a little weight :) Drinking water all day at any temperature keeps you hydrated and washes the toxins, including excess salt, out of your system keeping you from being bloated and having excess "water-weight".

drinking water helps you lose weight because of several factors,

1. water helps to fill us up so we don't eat as much during meals. Try it... drink 8-10 oz of water 30 min before a meal. You'll see you won't be as hungry.

2. Most humans confuse the thirst signal their brain sends them with a hunger signal. Next time you feel "hungry" (not starving) drink 8-10 oz of water. See if it calms the pang.

3. Water is more easily absorbed by the body when it is approximately 50 degrees Fahrenheit. So it doesn't have to be ice cold, but cool-cold water is preferable.

4, Just like our body slows our metabolism to a starvation mode when we don't eat enough, it also retains water when we don't drink enough. So drinking more water helps to flush your system.

I truly believe that it helps. As soon as I started drinking 8 glasses of Ice water a day, l lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks without changing my diet or exercise. You wont keep losing weight but drinking ice water or just water helps to flush out toxins and helps your body function the way its suppose to therefore it helps to maintain the natural weight your body should have. I guess I wasn't suppose to be carrying those 8 extra pounds. Now its up to me to carry a healthy diet and exercise plan but drinking plenty of water makes it that much easier. Don't listen to the girl who says its a hoax, its common knowledge that our bodies need water, we are mostly made up of water. Cold water is even better. When you drink cold water your body has to work extra hard to warm the water for digestion, working off extra calories, not only do you work off extra calories but when your body works harder than usual your metabolism raises as well making your body burn off calories faster and for a longer period of time. It might be only maybe 20 extra calories, but drink ice cold water every time you drink a glass a water and you burn off a lot of extra calories over time. And hey, if it is a hoax, (science shows that its not), Ice water tastes a lot better than warm water anyways, so drink up!

Water aerobics is a good source of exercise, because of the water pressure. Whether the water is cold of hot doesn't really make a difference. But if the water is cold, its bound to keep your A** moving!
