Depends on which state you live in.

My guess would be no.

Varies by location. Here in Nova Scotia, Canada, we are entitled to one 15 minute break every 2 hours, with one 1/2 hour break after 4 hours. This would change if you're in a unionized job with breaks specified in your contract.

You are require to have 2 15 minute breaks for each 4 hours worked. That is Federal law.

If you are only paid for 8 hours, they should give you an additional 30 minutes.

Anyone who doesn't give their employees a lunch break is a retard in my book! Whether it is paid or unpaid is not material.

Sounds like they are bilking you out of some pay!

At the very least, yes. Two break and 30 min lunch is for an 8hr day. 8.5hrs might entitle you to more, but there are alot of factors (where? what? union/non-union, etc).

In Chicago, if you work 8.5 hours you get an hour for lunch - 'breaks' are determined by employers...
