You know, someone makes an error, then ump makes a bad call and then other team gets a few good hits.... suddenly it seems the odds are against them. What can a coach do during a "called timeout" to calm everyone down?

Well, I'm no coach, but that happens to a player like me too. I get fustrated, I get mad at the ump sometimes and demotivate the team. what i would want a coach to say to us is either
1. that, yes if there are obvious calls you should let them no that it was a bad call, but don't get upset

2. Be calm, set an example for them, be laid back "it's ok" tell them.

3. Encourage them to make up for a mistake and instead of getting mad at the ump, have them use that anger at the plate.

4. tell them to play instinctivley, and be cool and calm under pressure, my coach says that your at least 50% of a better player than you are when you are nervous and tenative.

Good luck!

First behave like they too. Get frustrated at a bad call, or error. Then take a deep breathe and act as though you regained your composure. Then root the team on, still acting a little mad about about a bad play or call.

Well, when my son gets frustrated with homework and just can't seem to move on, I make him sing "I'm a Little Tea Pot" at the top of his voice doing all the motions over and over until he feels so silly he cracks up.

NOBODY can be frustrated and upset after doing that a few times!

Remind them to go out and have fun. Not to worry about the score and enjoy themselves.
