because Poland are a usual 4-4-2 formation and the coach changed to a 4-5-1 formation , which isolated the lone striker (murawski) and he had to keep falling back deeper into the midfield trying to carve openings and chances, but there was no one making decent runs to break forward...the Polish shot themselves in the foot, because if you play a lone striker...you should leave him up front and use two wingers to feed him and push midfielders forward at every opportunity..Murawski was like a speedboat with no driver, in the first half...he was all over the place...and he was exhausted after the first half...Ecuador are no t a great side but they defended very well and exposed a very badly organised back four, trying to play the offside trap and failing miserably....it has certainly opened the group up straight away...which is good...

Because Ecuador won 2-0.

On a serious note until last minutes of second half Poland had even had a single shoot at Ecv. goal, so what do you expect. Check the highlights, it is only Equador, who created moments..

Looking even deeper, if someone(Poland) begins to act as a promotion agency for a players instead of being a team this is where it ends up.
Remember Frankovsky? Would he be alongside Juravski today it would be 2-2 I am sure. But they neded to promote some guys with some network and arrange some people with a contrcacts with a wealthy western clubs I guess.. So this is what they have now.

I must admit I would have thought Poland would come out the winners. All in all Ecuador deserved the win. They put more effort into the game and some of their play was much more dynamic. After the first goal Poland seemed to lose a lot of heart. I got the impression Poland had prepared to play off wide crosses. Ecuador shut their wingers down every time. Well done Ecuador.
