I'm 22 years old and staying w/ my parents for the summer, after working for 1 year and before starting a Masters degree in September. This summer I have a very high-paying job (I only need to work 15-20 hrs per week) and do 5-6 hrs of tutoring per week.

My mother constantly nags me! Today there were no clean towels in the linen closet, so I went downstairs and got a clean one from the dryer. I also put the clean towels in the dryer and washed the ones that were sitting on the machine. When my mom got home, she screamed at me for being lazy and not checking in the master bathroom to see any other towels needed washing. This kind of thing happens almost daily- she gets upset with me about a job I didn't even know needed doing, and she constantly, CONSTANTLY nags. I help out in a lot of ways but she never even says "thank you"- instead she nags me repeatedly about not completing jobs she never asked me to do.

My parents invited me home for the summer and said I could stay with them to save money for school, which I really need to do. I feel like a prisoner or slave though- I'm being constantly screamed and shrieked at for not magically reading my mother's mind.

What should I do?

You're mom probibly thinks she should teach your responsiblity. So next time she Nags ask her why she always does that becasue maybe she doesnt realize she's doing it so much. BUt make sure you do it in a nice tone and calmly or she could nag at you for being crabby and what not. So say the instences you do and she maybe doensn't realize what she is doing. Just talk to her very kindly and make she she didn't have a bad day beforehand. just remember calm and kind ly Good luck. :)

You know what your mom probably nags you all the time because you are a witch. You are mean and nasty and nothing you write has any effect on me. I am not 12 I am 25 thank you and I already have my masters, and it is in Modern literature, so please do not patronize me about my poetic works. If I were your mother I would kick you out of my house. You are heartless and cold how could you do that to someone you don't even know. Go to church you need god in you if you can say something like that to someone who had said nothing to you of that nature.

You can't stop her. You can only do better: you can grow, and love her madly no longer, and need her mad love no longer. Because love is mad. And to get out of the mad love, of the love in black, you have to get out either of love or of madness.

Once one term of the equation goes to the equilibrium, the whole equation reaches the equilibrium.
