The whole world needs to lighten up & stop taking life so seriously, racism isn't in & word or a phrase, it's in the meaning, & if someone is being racist then turn around & ignore them. Like all bullying they can't continue if they have nothing to push against. Maybe if we all lessened our egos a little it would help, cause noone is perfect not even ourselves.

Many people (including me) feel very strongly on those subjects because they define who they are. Telling a joke about a Mexican to a Mexican it would be offensive sinse you might as well make fun of the person and his race. No one likes to be offended! You know if you offend someone through a joke chances are they won't think it's funny.

It depends, some of us laugh at ourselves to make our lives easier. Someone else laughing at us is not the same feeling. I will use my own life as an example. My husband is in the Canadian armed forces. They are constantly putting up with out of date equipment that falls apart. Within our community (Military spouses) we joke about all the time, but if someone else makes a joke about our military, we will defend the military with everything we have!

In person, it's easier to do. Online, it's difficult to pick up on someone's tone and therefore hard to know if they are joking or going for the jugular.

everyone is different and everyone has a type of joke that they just never see humor in because they feel offended in some way.
