I have had 3 gynos (due to changing insurance) and 2 were men one was a woman. I found the men were more understanding and helpful than the woman was. She just blew off my questions while the other two really helped figure them out and make sure it wasnt anything serious (also they were very sensitive due to the fact that they were men).

I actually prefer having a male gyno...it's not at all weird or in any way uncomfortable to me, if you are appointed a male gynocologist chances are you both aren't going to be in the room alone, most times they have a female nurse in there waiting by the door, if not you can always request one.

I went to the same family Dr. for years, then he got so busy I could never get in so I made an appt. with his new associate. The first time I went to see him as I was laying on the table and was waiting for him I asked the nurse how old he was, found out he was my age............... only 40, I was not too pleased, but all went ok. I now see a woman.

Not weird I just feel more comfortable with a woman Dr. becuase she has what I have (boobs and vagina)and she can relate better. I have seen a male Gyno before and I just didnt feel he cared as much as my Dr. I have now!

It is just a fact of life, I now go to a man, and If ind him very nice. He is very professional and I like him.

But a few years ago, my father who is now 85, complained about having to go to a female doctor. He thought it was awful and asked me if I thought it was right that he had to be subjected to this.

After I got up off of the floor from laughing at his whining and indignition I told him he had no right to complain. So did Mom.
