before sum of ya'll try talkin trash on my thread Im talking about all beauty pagents like Miss World, Miss Universe. Vanessa Williams does not represent black beauty she is marketed off *** a biracial woman. More African Countries should be winning.

The black women they choose to 'represent' blackness always have relaxed hair, lighter skin tones, and always are half-white, half, black. Halle Berry, Beyonce, and Vanessa Wiliams don't represent black beauty to me. Someone like iman represents it more. and No I am not being racist im just trying yo get my ******* point across. the world that we live in doesn't fully respect black women and their beauty. I sick and tired off seeing white women who look so average and bland make it to Maxim's Hot 100 list or becom the sexiest woman alive.

I myself have often wondered why the winners of the 'beauty' pageants tend to be the most boring, bland looking individuals on the planet.

Sure, their skin is clear, and their hair bright and shiny, and they sure can smile, but not a one of them has an ounce of character in their entire body.

I think it has to do with the ancient, leering goofs they get to judge these pageants who are just looking for flaws to take points away from the contestants, rather than attractive features which would add points to the total. It tends to lead to bland, vanilla winners, and because the old goofs are all white, they also tend to choose the bland white women rather than the bland black women.

It's definitely not fair to anyone, and elevates the self-worth of bland white women whose only real accomplishment is to not have any major physical flaws. I don't think that's really something we should be celebrating someone for, and it's not what I find most attractive about a woman either.

While the vast majority of major beauty pageant winners through history have not been black, since 1984 when Vanessa Williams became the first black Miss America, there have been many black beauty queens. According to the article (see link below) from Ebony magazine dated 1995, between 84 and 95 there were five. I'm not sure where you get your information that the participants are based on "white" beauty standards, and I'm not quite sure what "white" beauty standards are in your opinion. In recent years, it seems to me that the majority of pageant winners have had an "ethnic" appearance, and rarely now does one see a blone, blue-eyed woman wearing the crown. In reality, the idea of what constitutes a beautiful woman changes from decade to decade. Personally, I love the diversity.

There seem to be less black women actually entering the pageants (for whatever reason). I think if you look hard enough for racism, you can find it anywhere. Why look for something that isn't really there.

We can talk about how there haven't been any asian women who have won. Or, why have there been no older women who have won the crown? You should look at the ratios before you get upset about it. If you take into account how many black women who have actually entered these pageants and compare it to how many white women have entered, you would probably see that it is pretty equal. I don't think beauty is something that can be determined simply by race. There are just as many beautiful black women as any other race and I believe that society has acknowledged that fact.

If everybody would spend as much time respecting and loving each other as they do complaining about racism, we would have no more racism.

Because there is no such thing as "Beauty Pagents" for them to compete. There is a "Beauty Pageant" though that many black and beautiful women have won titles. You'll probably would win one of this coveted titles if you will just learn how to spell right and not capitalize each start of your words in your sentence. That's not a talent!!!

Black have and do win beauty pageants. Its numbers. In the US black people are minorities. If a white girl went to Jamaica and tried to win a beauty pageant, chances are a black woman would win. Because of the %'s.
What are 'white beauty standards'?

I see this issue come up often. Why don't blacks have a larger representation in different parts of our society? i.e. movies, work force, management, sports (well, not sports), etc.. The fact of the matter is that blacks only make up around 10% of the population.(U.S.) My question to you is 'has a black woman won 1 out of the past 10 pageants, or 2 of the past 20?' I haven't looked it up but I believe the answer is yes.

Why must RACE be a constant issue on these pages. If you will look at all the race questions, most 99% are asked of black people. You complain about race, yet, you are always the ones who keep bringing it up. But, if a white girl/guy bring up a race question, they're called racist. I refuse to answer your questions and if more people would stop answering racist questions perhaps we could stop them at this site.

Most of the hot black women have better things to do than sign up for beauty pagaents. There are many more hot white women with no more self esteem than than that.

Because most black woman don't meet the white person criteria of beauty. Black woman are very beautiful. They're jealous. So every now and then, they'll let one of win so that we can't cry racism.

Maybe It's Because They Capitalize All Words In A Sentence?

Seriously, I don't think that's true. I do not watch or care about beautity pageants though, I just came here to remark your poor spelling.
And I do hate all racial, national or political generalizations.
