Also I have an appt with the doc on Tuesday, I think I blew out my knee again. I rec'd a letter from the comp co. and they say that I qualified for temp comp payable and then it is up to my employer. I am a single mom supporting 2 sons on my own and deathly afraid to be without an income. I do have a lawyer but he doesnt seem to be to concerned about comp running out on the 12th.

If you're getting benefits from short-term disability, there is a time frame for the benefits to be paid.

If you're receiving Workman's Compensation payments, your state's rules about how much you'll be paid and how long you'll be paid will determine when your payments will stop.

Returning to work is something you and your doctor need to agree on. Make sure you bring the HR person from work into that conversation, so you can reach an agreement about when it's okay with your doctor, and absolutely necessary for your company to have you back.

The comp, or compensation payments need to be understood by you. Talk to the HR person at work or to your counselor at Job Service for the facts. Rumors from co-workers just cause hard feelings, and often aren't even close to true.

Good luck, and feel better! - Stuart

Maybe you could try to find out what company your employer has Worker's Compensation through and contact that insurance company. Not sure if this helps, but I'm pretty sure that there are state laws that regulate all that and it would really depend on the state which you are in. You may be able to do an online search for laws for your state. If you have a doctor's excuse, you may be entitled to more comp.

I would ask your doctor if she thinks you should go back after four weeks, if she says no, get a lawyer and fight it.
