That depends how mature she is, how old the kids are she is going to babysit and whether she is actually capable of things like remembering to feed them, knows how to change nappies(if necessary) and whatever else. I was 12 when my nephew was born and I looked after him then sometimes. Oh, and it also depends where she is babysitting, how far away it is and if someone will be able to bring her back or let if it is ok for her to stay over.
More than one child at a time might be too much though if she has never babysat before. I must have been a good babysitter, I remember having about 8 kids at once by the time I was 17!

It depends on the maturity level of the 12 yr.old. If you inform her of what her duties are and how to provide the best care for the child/children it can be an ok situation. I dont think you should expect a 12 to babysit for long periods of time and probably not good on a daily basis for an extended period.
You should also never expect a 12 yr. old to babysit 2 children under the age of 2 and no more than 2 children. A good idea to be on the safe side are to go over CPR and what to do in case of an emergency (fire, storms, strangers, etc...).
I babysat at 12 yrs old and did fine. It totally depends on the individuals.

It depends on how old the sat child is and how responsible of a 12 year old she is ... some 12 year olds are much more adult than others .. 12 is an either/or age when it comes to that.

I was babysitting at 10 (I'm the oldest of 8 now). Of course I guess I was a pretty mature kid...I was 15 hours from home and in college at 16.
It depends on your sister.

Yes. I know people that have babysat (including me) that were very successful babysitters at age 12.

No, I think she is much too young. Minimum age should be sixteen, if the baby sitter is mature enough to handle the job. The health and well being of the child should be considered above all.

As long as she is only babysitting one child at a time. She may not be able to handle multiple children. She should be able to babysit just fine as long as she is responsible enough.

If she is capable and mature enough to know what to do in an emergency, yes. You will just have to learn to put up with her being a bully.
