What a match ! I was very impressed by Ecuador's solid defence ! ---Poland's persistence did not pay. It was a true World Cup match. The bravery of both teams was amazing but a well deserved win by Ecuador

I think Poland did not expect to lose but they did have a few key players out who do not play. Great game but I think Ecquador's goalie might be a bit suspect if he is put under a lot of pressure from a better side.
Been a good start to the cup though.

Absolutely. In spite of a somehow weak beginning, Ecuador managed to control the game to get a great final result.
It was well deserved for Ecuador!

I think that a terrible offsides call on poland took away a goal for them, and a non-call of offsides on equador's second goal is what disabled poland. Poland seemed to be dominating the midfield most of the game but were never able to finish.

I agree that Ecuador played as a team and they had thier mission cut out. The Polish team had a better reputation and was considered a favourite but the team was lacking team spirit and concentration. The last 15 minutes the Polish team was a different team and they put their heart out but it was too late.

The one that scores first in the World Cup controls the game. Equador did that today. Great defensive game. Germany vs Equador looks very interesting.
Thanks for the link?

Completely agree -- and, incidentally, their second goal was onside -- whoever doesn't think so does not understand the offside rule.
Equador is now in a good position to progress to the second round -- they should be able to defeat Costa Rica easily, and could also surprise the very suspect German defense.

I surely agree. Ecuador played fine defense and controlled the game with discipline and concentration. IMHO If they keep playing like that, they'll reach quarterfinals.

Poland had their shots, they just didn't fall. I actually think Poland played well enough to win, but sometimes you hit the frame of the goal.
