Usually the c-cections are planned due to positioning of the baby, pelvic is not large enough, or parents decision. As for mine that was not planned, the doctor stated that since the babies heart rate reached a certain low number, they don't want to take the chances and add more stress to the baby. I think if it is not planned, it all depends on the circumstances!
Be ready for anything!!!!!

Whenever they feel like it. They get more income for doing a c-section than to deliver a baby naturally. They will find any little excuse to do surgery. I've known to many women where they've had to go through this. Right now in the US there are more UNNECESSARY c-section's being performed than ever before.

Depends on the doc. Ask your Doc when s/he has performed a C section in the past. Ask if there are any risk factors for your specific pregnancy that you need to be aware of. If you don't get good answers or feel like you have a good conversation with the doc, ask again. Or get a new doc

When the heart rate is fluctuating to low. When the baby's cord is around the neck. If the baby will not come down on his own and it's been several hours. If the baby is in a wierd posistion and cannot be turned to be easily delivered. There's all kinds of reasons. Hopefully you will not have any of them
