Battery (sulfuric) acid will not only ea through paint, but given enough time, will also eat through the metal under the paint.

Use extreme caution, and wash any spills with large quantities of water.

It doesn't "burn" paint, but it will leave a stain or discoloration. It will REMOVE paint by getting under it and corroding the surface of the metal.
