Your due date is just an estimate, and can be off by two weeks in either direction. So they usually won't induce in an uncomplicated pregnancy until a week or even two past your due date.

They will also induce due to medical conditions, such as preeclampsia, where you and your baby are better off out than in.

I was induced with my first child (preeclampsia) at 37 weeks. I think the induction process sucks, and I would recommend avoiding it if at all possible. (Of course, follow your doctor's advice.) I ended up with an emergency C-section. But the good thing about that is that I'll never be induced again.

When the baby seems to be having problems or you are a few days overdue. I was a week overdue and not going into labor. I had to be induced. Some babies just like it too much inside to want to come out on their own. If you are induced, get the epidural. It is totally worth it.

Usually at 40 weeks, unless the baby's not doing well. I would stay away from that. (the labor is much more harder) My daughter was induced, hard labor pains, then baby was stuck at 6 cm. C-Section was done. Baby was just fine except a little cone head that went away next day.

I depends on the person... if you are overdue not usually until you are 1 to 2 weeks over the prefer not to go over that due to the babies first bowel movement and chance of infection.... I was induced because of an impatient doctor... but they usually won't unless there is a good reason...

if ti's your frist baby they will wait about a week after your due date. If it's your second they will induce up to a wekk in advance of your due date. All depends on the doctor also. Sometimes you can schedule an induction so you have the doctor you want and your prepared.

I'm not positive but I think they'll induce if your due date has come and gone. Usually within a few days of your due date.
