You need to take it to an Apple Store. I had the same problem. I was given a new one. The IPODS have a lot of defects.

I'm sorry. Ask apple.com. Or take it to an Apple store to the smart desk and see if they can diagnose it for you. My ipod video died a couple of weeks ago. They replaced it right then and there, no questions asked. It was still under warranty.

This happened to me too. what i had to do was reset my ipod and get all the songs off the memory. Then i downloaded an upgrade off the support site, put the songs back on, and it worked just fine.

batteries dead! hahahahahahahah i hate how they never told me about that. i bought a 20 gb b4, the 3rd gen without the click wheel and next thing i kno i had to pay 100 dollars to change the battery after 8 months

this happened to me a while ago, the battery might be dead. yes ipod batteries do need changed every year or so.
